Newly Identified Remains at Gilgo Beach Tied to Long Island Serial Killer?

In June 1997, the remains of a woman were found in Hempstead Lake Park near New York City. Then in 2011, more remains matching the same victim along with the deceased body of a toddler were discovered on Long Island's Gilgo Beach.

Now, authorities in Nassau County, New York reportedly know the identities of the victims previously labeled Peaches and Baby Doe.

'Peaches' is reportedly a 26-year-old army veteran named Tanya Jackson and 'Baby Doe' her 2-year-old daughter Tatiana Dykes, according to CBS Mornings.

The location of where these remains were found have many wondering if the deaths are the work of the man dubbed 'Long Island Serial Killer': Rex A. Heuermann. Heuermann has been charged in connection with the murders of seven others, many of whose bodies were found along Gilgo Beach.

Although authorities say it's premature and even unlikely that Heuermann killed Jackson and Dykes they haven't yet completely ruled out a connection.

Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all the slayings he's been accused of committing. He was most recently in court April 2nd for a pretrial DNA hearing. No official trial date has been set yet.
