While it’s hard to argue with the annual Oscar nominations just announced, I for one am surprised by the lack of love for the movie “Jay Kelly”
If you’re a George Clooney fan you’re likely not happy he wasn’t nominated but to someone like me who holds no special admiration for his work, I’m shocked he didn’t get a Best Actor nomination. I loved his performance so much, I watched the movie twice in just a matter of days! Not as surprised that Adam Sandler wasn’t nominated for best supporting actor, but it seems the Sand Man gets little recognition for his serious acting.
To top it all off, even though the Oscars now list 10 nominated Best Movie nominees…Jay Kelly couldn’t even crack the list!
I loved One Battle After Another, Train Dreams and Frankenstein…but surely Jay Kelly was better than several of the other nominated films.
Nonetheless I’ll be watching on March 15th when Conan O’Brien hosts the big-daddy of awards shows!
